Our interview with Legendary Pinstriper Von Hot Rod at SEMA 2022 VON HOT ROD WAS BORN INTO THE MOTORSPORTS INDUSTRY IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA. HIS DAD BEN, ALSO KNOWN AS “THE ROD FATHER”, WAS A SPRINT CAR DRIVER AND DRAG RACER IN THE 50’S AND THE EARLY 60’S. SHORTLY AFTER VON WAS BORN, HIS FATHER STOPPED RACING AND BEGAN BUILDING KUSTOM CARS AND HOTRODS. THIS IS WHERE VON CAUGHT THE HOTROD BUG. JUST BARELY IN 8TH GRADE, VON PUT TOGETHER HIS PLAN OF OWNING HIS OWN HOTROD SHOP SOMEDAY. IN HIGH SCHOOL, VON STARTED REPAIRING AND FLIPPING CARS - DOING WHATEVER IT TOOK TO MAKE MONEY TO SAVE TOWARD HIS DREAM. BY HIS 21ST BIRTHDAY HE “BROKE GROUND” ON HIS DREAM SHOP IN FONTANA, CALIFORNIA. A SHORT 5 YEARS LATER, VON MOVED HIS SHOP FROM FONTANA TO A MUCH LARGER FACILITY IN NORCO, CALIFORNIA. THERE IT GREW TO BE A LEADER IN THE INDUSTRY. WHILE SETTING TRENDS IN THE HOT-RODDING INDUSTRY, HE ALSO SAW MANY OTHER OPPORTUNITIES TO GROW HIS BRAND.
